Pro Greens – an European fruit and vegetable project
Pro Greens is a European project to examine and promote fruit and vegetable consumption among school children.
This ongoing project is conducted in 11 European countries and is funded by DG SANCO (Health and Consumer Protection Directorate General of the European Commission).
Folkhälsan Research Center conducts the Pro Greens project in Finland. The aims of the project are to assess the current intake of fruits and vegetables and to develop effective strategies to promote the consumption of fruit and vegetables in school children.
In Finland the project includes a baseline study in spring 2009 and a follow-up in spring 2010. Intervention is conducted in intervention schools during school year 2009-2010. The study is conducted in Swedish-speaking primary schools outside the capital region with a sample of approximately 1000 11-year-old school children.
