Research in health behaviors

The research group, lead by docent Eva Roos, examines how social and psychosocial factors influence health related behaviors.

The main study target group is school children. Three main projects are conducted; Hälsoverkstaden (Health workshop), Pro Greens and the Folkhälsan Health in Teens Cohort Study.

Hälsoverkstaden

Hälsoverkstaden research project started in 2006 in 31 schools with approximately 1300 schoolchildren. The aim of the project is to explore social and psychosocial determinants of children's health behavior, i.e. sleeping pattern, food habits and physical activity and their association with overweight.

Pro Greens

Pro Greens  is a European project that started in 2008. The project aims to assess the intake of fruits and vegetables among 11-year-old children and to develop effective strategies to promote their intake. In Finland Folkhälsan research center conducts the project in 19 Swedish-speaking schools.

Fin-HIT

The research group is responsible for developing and validating new assessment methods for physical activity and dietary intake within the Folkhälsan Finnish Health in Teens (Fin-HIT) Cohort Study
