Public Health

The program has four focus areas. One central aim is to investigate from a life cycle perspective in a large birth cohort study how the fetal and childhood growth and living circumstances impact the health in adulthood.

The health promotion research focuses on the beneficial factors for health in a societal context. In addition, the determinants of health behavior and promotion of healthy behavior among children is being investigated. The comparative study of the production models of basic service evaluates, among other things, the efficiency of the service production models in different municipalities. Finally, comparative studies on health and well-being differences between the Swedish and Finnish speaking population in Finland aim to identify the factors explaining these differences.
